The founders of Orb started with a mission to make the billing and monetization of software-as-a-service (SaaS) products more flexible. Now, they build billing infrastructure for cutting edge tech companies like Pinecone, Perplexity, and Vercel. In March 2023, after raising $19.1 million, they were looking to expand rapidly. However, with their rigorous hiring standards, this was taking time, and they needed a team to assist them during this rapid expansion phase.

Having shared work experience at Asana, Orb’s founding team trusted the founders of First Mate Technologies (FMT), Mark and Hiro, and their engineering team with providing rigorous technical support. It was our honor to assist with their critical piece of software.

Support Request

With Orb’s growing demands, there were customer feature requests that their customer experience team— involved in Slack threads with customers, answering any questions they may have and responding to feature requests—did not have the bandwidth to respond to. So, they asked us to support their team in building vital features requested by their customers.

Development Journey

We diligently worked with Orb’s customer experience team, building and revamping various features—most notably:

  • APIs for Orb users to manage their Orb products on external platforms
  • Massive migration of percentage handling in their product
  • User interface for adjusting credits for individual customers

Working with us, they were able to go through their requests much faster, increasing their customer satisfaction.
